Serie Eins! Round Face? Eyebrow Styles for Different Face Shapes

As mentioned in my previous blog, eyebrows can make or break a makeup look. Make them in a way that they could soften your angular face, add length to your round face or width to your long face or break in a way that they could accentuate or exaggerate features that you want to be silenced. Assuming you’re either a makeup artist or the eyebrows styles you have been trying have not been working for you and you are very curious about ways to figure out a way out. You have come to the right place.

Knowing your face shape is the first key step in the nailing of a perfectly shaped pair of eyebrows. Although there is a standard way of mapping brows, that we will discuss in another blog, your face shape and features should be your first guide. There are many different face shapes that according to everyone’s point of view have different names. Despite the many eyebrow trends available today, ideally, not all these styles suit all face shapes. Therefore, in this blog series, I will break down the eyebrow styles best suited for all the different face shapes. However, for today, I will start off with the round-shaped girlies as if I touch on all face shapes today the blog length would be infinite.

Accentuating your facial features using eyebrows

Eyebrows form the top of your face frame, jaw lines form the bottom part of the frame and the sides are formed between the temples and the jawline. However, with proper eyebrow skills, you can enhance your facial features with brow shaping to accentuate your favorite facial features and generally, depending on how you like it. This process can be achieved in so many known ways, for instance:

  1. If you have a short square face, you can make it longer by raising the brows and increasing the length of the arch to make an illusion of a longer face.
  2. Lengthening the tails of the eyebrow area makes the brows look wider and the jawline look slimmer in proportion.
  3. For those with a wide set of eyes and nose ridge, you can make them close by using close-set brows. This can enhance the appearance of the whole skin space on the forehead.
  4. Fuller eyebrows make the face look smaller.
  5. Rounded Bros make the face look more round.
  6. Softly contoured eyebrows soften an angular face and adding sharper angles makes a round face look shapely.

Eyebrow shapes and styles for a round face

Rounded brows done on rounded faces tend to make the face look rounder. With the main objective of a round-faced person being making her face longer and jaws narrower, this does not do the job. Therefore, a soft lifted arch and extended tail will do to create an illusion of a longer face and a slimmer jawline. Additionally, below are some tips for my round-faced girlies to nail their eyebrows.

Take home tips

A sharp angular eyebrow shape does not compliment a round face. Take note that only the arch should be softly angulated.
Avoid the trendy straight brows on a round face because it makes the face look shorter than it already is.
Pay more attention to brow contours especially soft and lightly covered under the arc to maintain a long look.
Brush the front hairs upwards to add an angular element to the face returning its balance.
Add heights to the act to lengthen the face
Then keep the AC nearer to the center to make the frame appear more oval

Succinctly, with makeup, we aim to enhance looks and not entirely change them. Always follow the natural outline of your brows for starters. See you next time as we talk about the long and oval face girlies. Bis bald!
